Who can be a PIC (person in charge):

The person directly responsible for the  food related operations, with direct authority, control and supervision of the food handlers during the entire time of operation

Legal requirement

All food businesses must employ at least one full- time, on-site PIC per shift, certified in food safety

The PIC should be responsible for and oversees all operations affecting food safety

The PIC must be nominated by management and have a PIC account on Foodwatch.

The PIC must pass an approved exam. Valid for 5 years subject to successful 1 day refresher after 3 years

The PIC’s name must be clearly displayed for customers

The business & the PIC must adhere to all DM memos and circulars re the PIC

If the PIC leaves they must be replaced in 30 days
and certified within 45 day.
