Highfield Level 4 International Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

Who is this qualification for?

The qualification is for existing supervisors and managers who have direct responsibility for health and safety in their workplace. It is also suitable for learners who will progress to become a supervisor or manager with responsibility for health and safety.

How long will it take?

The guided learning hours for this qualification is 40 hours.  

Topics covered

These include duties and responsibilities, health and safety policies, developing and implementing risk assessments and safe systems of work and incident investigation.

Assessment method

This qualification is assessed by a multiple choice examination and practical assessment.

Highfield Level 3 International Award in Health and Safety for Construction Supervisors

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification has been developed for supervisors working in the construction industry.    

How long will it take?

To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 2 days of learning.

Topics covered

These include: responsibilities of employers, employees and supervisors, risk assessment process, hierarchy of control, safe systems of work, permits to work and construction safety briefings.

Assessment method

This qualification is assessed by a practical assessment and a multiple choice examination. 

Highfield Level 3 International Award in Health and Safety for Accommodation Supervisors

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is aimed at labour camps or staff accommodation supervisors and managers with a direct responsibility for the health and safety management or learners wishing to become accommodation managers/supervisors.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that supervisors and managers have legal and moral obligations to ensure health and safety within the accommodation/camps and that this includes obligations to employees, contractors, visitors and suppliers.

This qualification will help learners gain an understanding of various aspects of health and safety, and how they can regularly assess hazards and implement corrective actions to create comfortable, clean and safe accommodation.

How long will it take?

The guided learning hours (GLH) for this qualification is 18 hours.

Topics covered

The qualification provides learners with an understanding of the main aspects of health and safety and the importance of maintaining these aspects to ensure a safe and healthy living space. Topics include the key infrastructure requirements, safe utilities requirements, maintenance of fire safety, electrical safety, food safety, pest and waste management systems, cleaning and disinfection procedures, procedures of control of spread of infection and responsibilities of the supervisors to conduct routine inspection of the premises, to record and report any health and safety hazards.

This qualification is assessed by a multiple-choice examination.

Highfield Level 3 International Award in Accident and Incident Investigation

Who is this qualification for?

The qualification is for learners already working in the capacity of supervisor, manager or team leader, or those who are preparing to start work at this level.

This qualification will enable learners to understand the principles and purpose of effective accident and incident investigation in the workplace, the contributing factors, the process of investigating, including positive interview techniques, analysis of evidence gathered, setting a plan of action to prevent a reoccurrence and to understand reasons why some investigations might fail.

How long will it take?

To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 8 hours of learning.

This qualification has been developed for those who are working in any private or public sector working environment and providing them with knowledge of basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace.

To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 6 hours of learning.

Topics within this qualification include; responsibilities of individuals for health and safety in the workplace, risk assessments and risk control and an understanding of the procedures that should be in place to deal with health and safety incidents.

This qualification is assessed by a multiple-choice examination.

Highfield Level 2 International Award in Work at Height

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification has been developed for those working in any environment who will have a job role involving work at height activities.

How long will it take?

To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 6.5 hours of learning.

These include the requirements for the use of equipment, correctly selecting and using equipment safely and correct techniques when using equipment.

This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and written/oral questioning.
