Highfield Level 2 International Award in
Emergency First Aid at Work
This
qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to
work, in the industry and who have been identified in the company’s first aid
risk assessment as being required to provide first aid in the workplace.
This
international qualification would be typically delivered to learners through a
1-day training course (6 hours).
Topics covered
include the role and responsibilities of a first-aider, assessing an incident,
unresponsive casualties (breathing and not breathing), choking, shock and minor
injuries.

Who is this qualification for?
This
qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to gain a more comprehensive
understanding of first aid along with an understanding of how important
medical/environmental intelligence is when dealing with a range of casualties.
How long will it take?
To complete
this qualification learners should expect to undertake 32 hours of
learning.
Topics covered
These include
the role and responsibilities of a first aider, being able to manage an
unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally, being able to manage a
casualty with external bleeding, being able to manage a casualty with a minor
injury, understand how the environment can impact on the provision of first
aid, how to support a variety of casualties and the safe use of an automated
external defibrillator.
Assessment method
This
qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and written/oral
questioning.
